The Wednesday Call Live! with Andy Albright 04/19/2017
The Wednesday Call (TWC) for April 19, 2017: Andy Albright hosted this week's episode of The Wednesday Call live from his office at The Alliance's headquarters in Burlington, N.C. in front of a live studio audience to talk about fast, effective and focused recruiting.
When you are recruiting, sometimes you need to build slower to actually build faster. When you find a strong person who is doing the right things, you need to slow down with them and help them as much as you can because it will actually compound what you are doing with that person.
One of the ways you can attract the right people is by wearing the right kind of clothing. Before you even open your mouth to say hello, people see what you look like. You will attract people who look like you and dress like you. Look the part or you can never attract the kind of recruits that you want on your team. Dress for success and others will take notice.
Be a great example in all that you are doing when you are working with your team. Be aware of what you say in a group setting and be careful about what you say in a direct one-on-one setting to a person. People don't like to change and they will be sensitive if you point out bad habits. If a person doesn't want to change then they will not change. You can't force a person to change their behavior unless they want to change. When you find a person who wants to change and does it quickly, then you need to spend a lot of time working with that person.
When a person decides they want something and they show you they have scrap and fight in their DNA, then you have a person that you can help do big things with The Alliance. People that take ownership and don't see work as a job are the people that want to win big. Those are the people who want to win in life. Andy Albright doesn't want to lose, he wants to win. He wants you to win too. If you want to win big, you have to invest big. People are watching what you do. You can't coach a person to do something if you aren't doing it first.
Too many people are focused on a destination and not thinking in terms of how far they can go in life. The Alliance wants people to push to see how far they can go and how much they can do with the opportunity we have in America. People that don't get results, think they are on higher moral ground when it really boils down to not caring enough to get what you want.
When you are at a HotSpot meeting and guests are there, they will decide in the first five minutes if they are going to come back the next week. People will remember how you made them feel. They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. You have to make people feel welcome or they will not come back again. You have to meet people where they are at and show empathy toward them. Even if you have an opinion, you don't have to share it with the world. Be nice. Smile. Shake hands.
What you think about the most if what you are going to do. It's a proven fact. What you spend your time thinking about it what you will ultimately do. Focus on the right things so that you do what needs to be done. If you are having problems, there's a good chance that you are thinking about the wrong things in your life. If you are negative, you can bet your worst fears will come to pass.
How you are dressed, how you think and how you act around people is a direct indication of where you are in life. Stop worrying about the things you don't need to worry about and focus on what you can control. Stop lobbying for change that isn't likely to happen and work on what you can make an impact on. When you talk to people make sure you are saying things that are making a positive impact and not negative.
You never know what a person knows so don't assume that they know what it right and what is wrong. Help people. Don't be mean. People are focused on what is going on right now and not what tomorrow looks like. People with bigger goals and vision are thinking about the future now. They are still getting things done now, but they have a dream of what the future is going to look like.
The biggest mistake people make is thinking they have plenty of time. The mentality should be now or never, not I can do it later. The more you can do today, the better off you will be. When people see you going all out to be successful, you will attract people that will do the same because you are doing it.
When you have a plan, you can be more successful. When you are striving for a goal, it helps to have a plan. Be intentional about what you do every day and every minute. Actions speak louder than words. You can have all the knowledge in the world, but it boils down to application. If you haven't played the game then you can't talk about the game. You can have the greatest education in the world, but if you don't take the knowledge and apply it then it is worth nothing. Application trumps knowledge every single time. You have to understand that you can have whatever you want, but you need to have a plan to get there and stay there. It's part of the formula for success. Remember to operate from a place of humility.
What you think about all the time is what will happen. Andy Albright
